LED Televisions, Picture Perfection For Your Eyes

Posted by Silvester Smith

If you’re shopping for high definition televisions, then you will repeatedly come across something called LED television. LED televisions have become very popular and are experiencing great success in electrical market. The attraction of consumers towards the LED TV is due to the improvements in picture quality. Watching your favourite programs on high definition LED televisions is a feeling that you should experience.

Previously LED’s were used to enhance the color and clarity of the screen projections. This use of the LED’s has been used in the evolution of the LED televisions. When it comes to the directing light in a single direction LED’s are far ahead than the ordinary incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. This is why it is used in the LED televisions to get a very good picture quality.

Similar to the LED TV we also have LCD televisions. Both the LED and the LCD television function similar to one another, however the fundamental difference between them is that to light the televisions display, LEDs are used instead of the fluorescent lamps used in conventional LCD televisions. The LED television utilizes LEDs to light the display in one of two ways. Firstly when the LED are used in the edge of the television screen it is called an edge-lit LED television and if it is present behind the television then it is called a back-lit LED television.

LED televisions are more accurately described as an LED lit LCD TV as they still have an LCD panel, it is just the method of lighting that varies. Some related advertisements have been criticized by advertising authorities as being misleading resulting in clarification of advertisements relating to LED TVs.

The use of LED technology has slightly varied the viewing facility. The screen size of an LED television is ranges from about 40 inches and upwards. So when you compare with other televisions this is high, however the depth of the television is very thin. Compared to back lit television the edge lit televisions are much slimmer and not as thick as previous LCD TVs.

Another advantage with LED TVs is up to a forty percent power saving when compared to older equivalent LCD TVs and even higher when compared to older plasma TVs. Even though the initial expense of buying an LED is high, the quality of the picture and benefits of power savings are well worth the extra spend.

Because of the extra competition in the market between the LED, LCD and plasma televisions, users are confused with the models available making their purchasing choice difficult. A good comparison between these televisions is helpful. The LCD televisions are very good value and have a large range of sizes. Plasma and LED TVs produce better picture quality and come in larger screen sizes which is reflected in their greater costs.

Samsung, Sony, LG and JVC all produce televisions which use LEDs in their designs. To judge the benefits and application of LEDs you need to view some of these TVs for yourself. Only then will you see if the price justifies the improved quality and designs.
