The Sinister Urge – Committed cops Duncan and Moore set out to bash the “smut film racket,” which is run by a vulgar blonde. Illustrates with total sincerity how photos of fat ladies clad in just their underwear can be a major cause of adolescent delinquency. Shooter – Retired Marine Corp Sniper Bob Lee Swagger is asked to travel to Washington, to help trail another sniper that will seek to slay the President. What happens to him next is a total shock. The same US government people that he is helping are in reality setting him up to take the fall for the shooting. He somehow escapes when he is shot, and is now on the run. He is also ready to fight back.

The All-American Boy – Muddled drama in reference to Olympic hopeful Voight’s attempt to be a triumphant boxer; striking locations of northern California, but that’s all. Cast includes Jon Voight, Ned Glass, Anne Archer, and Carol Androsky. (104 minutes,’89)

The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe – This is a clever re-creation of Lily Tomlin’s’85 one female Broadway show. Her characterizations run the range from box woman to juvenile delinquent to New Age Lady, with much of the material in a feminist vein. The show stars Lily Tomlin obviously. (120 minutes,’91)

Rent-a-Kid – While the supervisor of an orphanage takes a holiday, dad Nielsen takes over with a strategy to raise cash by renting out kids. While predictable, this daft premise is astonishingly effective. In the end 3 children are rented by a stylish ’90s couple thinking about adopting. A respectable family movie. Cast includes Leslie Nielsen, Christopher Lloyd, Matt McCoy, Sherry Miller, and Amos Crawley.
